It was fun getting to see some of the old costumes brought to life in the current CGI work and for the most part I thought the special effects were good and especially on the Tar Man.
#SCOOBY DOO 2 MONSTERS UNLEASHED FREE MOVIE SERIES#
Fans of the original series will probably understand the monsters here better than kids perhaps watching this movie. The supporting cast does feature Seth Green, a strong performance by Peter Boyle and it was certainly nice seeing Alicia Silverstone. The CGI Scooby really isn't any better but he's just too fake looking for his own good. Then you've got Gellar and Cardellini doing nice work in their supporting roles and even Lillard is a bit better as Shaggy. That's not to say he gives a great performance but it's at least better than what was in the first film. For starters, Prinze does a little better job with Freddie and I thought the screenplay wrote his character much better this time out. With that said, one really shouldn't expect this film to compare to the original series but there are a few good things here and a few nice changes that made this one slightly better than the first film. SCOOBY-DOO 2 is a minor improvement over the first film but it still can't measure up to the original series or many of the spin-offs that followed it. Suddenly a black knight comes to life and soon some of the gangs most famous monsters are coming after them. Scooby-Doo 2 (2004) ** (out of 4) The second and final film in the attempt to bring the animated classic to the big screen has Fred (Freddie Prinze, Jr.), Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Velma (Linda Cardellini), Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) and Scooby walking the red carpet as a museum housing the costumes to their greatest cases is about to open.
